THE CRYSTELLES feat GITANE DEMONE


Attach And Detach There's a joyful exultation that rings throughout the twelve tracks on The Crytelles full-length debut, 'Attach And Detach'. Perhaps it's the sound of singer/guitarist Gitane Demone's liberation from the shackles of crass corporate commercialism and the tyranny of genre ghetto-ization? Whatever the case, Demone, a former singer/keyboard player in Christian Death and a highly provocative performance artist in her own right, possesses a spritually emotive voice and creates music that is drenched in the minimalism of primal rock and roll and filtered through bluesy, jazz-tinged inflections. Combined with the wonderfully rumbling rhythm section formed by Demone's daughter Zara Kand and bass player Troy Rounseville, the result is a highly unique style of music that will be adored by more than just the Goth and Death Rock set. Produced and recorded by Mike McHugh over a three year period between 2007 and 2009 at the Distillery in Costa Mesa, CA., 'Attach And Detach' refers to the yin and yang of birth and death, creation and destruction, beginnings and endings, while at the same time reflecting upon the harsh and uncertain times we are living in with a cynical and brutal honesty. "I never did a thing to you, still you try to keep me down. I never said a word to you, but oh, I hear you putting me down..." she sings in Outcast Of Society. And on the topic of love, Demone's musings range from the disdainful in Pig Rag singing, "There's more to love - that's sex/It's about all some men are good for...fools and emotional wrecks", to the more helpful take in A Dream That Is Evah Near where she offers, "I'll sing for you to come and get me.../And take me to heaven high," as if channeling the sultry power of enigmatic female performers as Merlene Dietrich, Billie Holiday and Etta James thru a rock 'n' roll prism, Gitane Demone and The Crystelles makes somber music that uplifts the soul. CHRIST VS WARHOL


All is not well in Los Angeles: beyond the perfectly manicured lawns and pre-fab buildings, between the corporate media hype and pharmaceutical ads, behind the plastic surgery and spray-on tans, a sense of unrest grows, festering just beneath the surface, threatening to tip the delicate balance of artifice and apathy off it's axis and send the entire facade crashing into a well-deserved oblivion. It is this climate that birthed Christ vs. Warhol -- art school sedition with guitars instead of guns. Fronted by agitprop siren eveghost (ex-Scarlet’s Remains and Purnama), Christ vs. Warhol is colored by the frenetic, swirling guitars of Steven James (ex-All Gone Dead and Scarlet's Remains/currently of The Deadfly Ensemble and Faith And The Muse), driven by the eclectic, angular basslines of Marzia Rangel (ex-Kastle Grey Skull and Scarlet's Remains/currently of The Deadfly Ensemble and Faith And The Muse), and held in place by the thundering drums of Geoff Bruce (ex-Sunshine Blind and Faith And The Muse/currently of Anima Mundi). MARTYR WHORE

Groupe de la France and Italy. Lloyd Amant, the compositor is born in 70’s in Guadeloupe (french colony ), Heidrich Gerace guitarist is born in Monaco… No band influences. Just Nietzsche et la decomposition…


Martyr Whore is a French band and they existed in the mid 90s beside the greatest French Gothic-Rock band Corpus Delicti. It released their 1st album "Roseydolvelt Ballet“on Germany´s Apollyon label, home of bands like The Last Dance, Engelsstaub, Ikon and Madre Del Vizio. It was definetly the right label for the band and for a short time, the name of Martyr Whore was well known in the scene, even, if they are nearly totally forgotten today. It's a shame because If there ever would have been an "Only Theatre Of Pain Part 2“, it surely would have sound like"Roseydolvelt Ballet“. The band sounds so close to Rozz Williams´ legendary band, that it becomes likeable. It is pure Death-Rock with the typical hammering bass, the shrieking guitars and suffering vocals plus many B-Movie-Horror effects and sounds. The second album, "The Blue Coresh Nietzsche Malsaine“ contains the 1996 recordings for the planned second album, which never has been released until 2002 on their own label. This second album is still pure Death-Rock and will please all fans of early Rozz Williams´ Christian Death, but it seems, that there are some more Metal influences and it has more raw power. Think of a collaboration of 45 Grave and Super Heroines with Rozz singing about Death, Hell, Sex and Blood. Well, this description seems to point to the self titled debut album of Shadow Project.

EAT YOUR MAKE UP

Groupe français formé en 2002 par Plag O'Platre (chant, clavier), Mac Gregor (basse), JF (guitare), Anthony (batterie), et La Isa (2nd chant).Incontestablement influencé par Rozz Williams, icone de leur plus belle référence deathrock: Christian Death, EYMU (pour les intimes) a su se démarquer de la scène batcave française avec ses guitares hurlantes, son chanteur à la voix exceptionnelle se mélangeant à celui de sa choriste et l'ensemble de son lined up charismatique. Le nom du groupe est un hommage au film de eponyme de 1968 réalisé par John Waters avec Divine (icône gay-transsexuelle de 1960). Le groupe se fit très prometteur auprès des fans dès la mise en ligne des premiers titres. La sortie de l'album "First Dinner" aura comblé leur attente avec ses riffs transcendants et sa rythmique percutante qui donne envie aux chauves souris de sortir de leur caves perso pour se réunir et se déchainer sur le dancefloor. Oui, chaque titres de l'album donne envie de danser!
Eat Your Make Up aura partagé la scène avec des groupes mythiques tel que Cinema Strange, et CD1334!!
En 2008, le groupe se sépare juste avant la sortie d'un magnifique second album testament "Things as they should be".


French band formed in 2002 by Plag O’Platre (vocal, keyboard), Mac Gregor ( bass), JF ( guitar), Anthony (drums) and La Isa (2nd vocal).
More than obviously influenced by Rozz Williams, icon of their most beautiful deathrock reference: Christian Death, EYMU (for the close friends) knew how to distance themselves from the French batcave scene with their howling guitars, the exceptional voice of his singer mixing up with the chorus-singer one’s and their whole charismatic lineup. The name of the band is a tribute to the eponymous film of 1968 realized by John Waters with Divine (gay-transsexual icon of the 60’s). The band was very promising with the fans from on-line publishing of the first titles. The release of the album "First Dinner" will have filled their expectations with its transcendent riffs and hard-hitting eurhythmics which gives envy to the bats to leave their private cellars to meet and burst out on the dancefloor. Yes, every titles of the album give envy to dance!

BLOODY DEAD AND SEXY


Bloody deand and sexy est un groupe allemand crée à la fin des 90's autour du chanteur Rosa Iahn, du guitariste Bjoern et du bassiste Tim.  Adeptes d'un deathrock old school fortement influencé par Christian Death, Shadow Project ou Mephisto Walz, Bloody dead and sexy a sorti un 45-t en 2002.

Suite à leur signature sur le label Alice in Wonderland, le premier album 'Paint it red' sort en 2003. C'est un succès. il est d'ailleurs réédité quelques années plus tard avec des bonus. Après divers concerts, le groupe propose son deuxième album, 'Narcotic room' deux ans plus tard. Le groupe a pris du recul par rapport à ses influences et propose un excellent deathrock plus travaillé, vénéneux dans ses atmosphères...En mai, 2010, ils reviennent avec leur nouvel album "An eye on you"

After 2 years of touring, the band offers a second album, ' Narcotic room '. They stand back from their original influences and offer an excellent deathrock, more elaborated and with poisonous atmospheres. The third album, "An eye on you" was released in may 2010.

KATZENJAMMER KABARETT


Katzenjammer Kabarett se définissent eux même comme du cabaret deathrock mais il serait plus exact de qualifier leur musique de « Baroque Krautpop », car leurs influences se retrouvent dans beaucoup de styles : du glamrock à l’electroclash, en passant par la new wave, le deatrock et plus largement la music gothique. Basé à Paris, KK a déjà publié deux albums, en 2006 et 2009, et tourne au niveau international dans de gros festivals tels que le Waregem ou le WGT. Katzenjammer Kabarett (qui pourrait vouloir dire le Cabaret de la langue de bois) est très inspiré par Dresden et Cinema Strange. Le groupe emmené par une chanteuse vraiment charismatiques, Mary Komplikated est composé de Herr Katz (guitariste), Klischee (claviériste et compositeur) et Dr Guillotine (bassiste).



The Katzenjammer Kabarett used to refer themselves as Death rock Cabaret, but it would be more correct to qualify their music as Baroque Krautpop, for their influences can be found in too many styles, from glamrock to electroclash, from baroque music to new-wave, merely to limit this band to death rock or more widely to Gothic music. The name Katzenjammer Kabarett is just a name, there is no point in looking further even though we must admit that the Katzenjammer Kabarett members do not mind using the diletante and frivolous aesthetic of several past movements, their compositions, nonetheless, by the means of varied and various collages, is an attempt to reveal in a coherent or almost way, by the use of electronic, pop, jazz, deathrock, or classical music sounds as well as traditional cabaret songs, the peculiar atmosphere one could have probably found in old fashioned Lieder. To sum up, a considerable part of their work comes from second-hand elements, borrowed from several preceding movements and styles, but whose signs have been systematically changed. Thus, the music composed by Klischee, supported by Herr Katz’s lyrics and Mr Guillotine’s how so necessary pragmatism, creates an alchemy with the carefree Mary Komplikated’s voice and theatrical singing which embodies all the magic, the cynism and the absurdity of that hangover cabaret, which is just a music band like others.

CHRYSALIS MORASS


Groupe de deathroch français fondé en 2008 à la mort du groupe Eat Your Make Up.

CHRYSALIS MORASS ou Marais de chrysalides du grec « khrusos » (doré) et de la réduction de « marron d’inde en strass » est un groupe de deathrock français créé en 2008 sur les cendres de Eat Your Make Up par Anthony, Emilie, JF, La Isa et Plag O’Platre, cinq esprits matérialisés par autant de corps se sont, un jour, retrouvés dans ce bourbier.

Car,  il est des Terres ou Dimensions inconnues, des sas à l’accès restreint et dont la clé demeure légendaire. 
Chrysalis Morass en est l’exemple parfait. Ce vaste espace de bois mort trempant dans un bouillon dont la température est encore inconnue, cette étendue  baroque au sol aride et à l’atmosphère le plus souvent sinistre et peu engageante  est le point central du sujet de cette présentation.
Malgré ce premier abord, pour le moins mortel, le visiteur le plus Hagard-agar  se rendra vite compte qu’à l’instar des grandes forêts équatoriales où l’homme moderne n’aurait jamais dû mettre les pieds, il se développe une vie discrète et luxuriante, étonnement riche et anormalement impertinente.
On y trouve, en majeure partie, des chrysalides.

Dans quelques semaines, sortira M?y?, premier album de six titres de Chrysalis Morass.

French deathrock band created in 2008 at the death of the band Eat Your Make Up.
CHRYSALIS MORASS, or Swamp of chrysalises, from "khrusos " (“golden” in Greek) and contraction of " horse chestnut in paste " (“marron d’inde en strass” in French) is a French deathrock band created in 2008 on Eat Your Make Up's ashes by Anthony, Emilie, JF, La Isa and Plag O' Platre, five souls materiarealized in as many bodies met one day in this morass (quagmire, quicksand).

For, there are unknown Lands and Dimensions, airlocks with restricted access and with legendary Key. Chrysalis Morass illustrates this perfectly. This wide space of dead wood dipping into a broth with still unknown temperature, this baroque area of barren land and of mainly sinister and so not-welcoming atmosphere, is the key point of the subject of this introduction . Disregarding this first sight, at least mortal, the most Haggard - agar visitor will soon realize that just like the big equatorial forests where the modern man should never set foot in, he develops a discreet and luxuriant abnormally impertinent and rich life, a surprise. Where live, mostly, chrysalises.
In a couple of weeks, will be released, the first six tracks album of Chrysalis Morass.
